I wanted to devise, run and publicise a fun event that would bring the Stonehouse community together and help support the town’s Stonehouse in Bloom project. There were already numerous ‘trails’ in the surrounding villages so I thought why not one in Stonehouse.
Stonehouse Flower Pot People Trail is a not-for-profit trail of people made from flower pots around the Stonehouse parish. The Flower Pot People are made by residents, businesses and community groups. Anybody who lived or had a business or ran a group in Stonehouse could enter for free.
The trail ran on Saturday 16th & Sunday 17th July 2016 between 12 noon – 4pm. Registration and a trail sheet cost £2 per group and you could pay and pick up a trail sheet on Stonehouse Town Green on the day.
Depending on the number and location of entries there were multiple trails, short, intermediate, long etc.
Entries were displayed within the Stonehouse Parish. All entries received a number and quiz question to display alongside their entry. There were 3 prizes.
1) Most ‘Flower Pot People’ found
2) Most correct quiz answers
3) Best ‘Flower Pot Person’
All monies raised by the event were split between Stonehouse in Bloom and Stonehouse community groups and charities. The event provide very popular with over 100 families and participants taking part. Coverage was also featured in the Stroud News & Journal.
