Established Cheltenham-based band ‘The Chequered Souls’ came to me for help with marketing and publicity which would help spread their infectious brand of Ska, Punk and Soul to a wider audience, with the object of increasing live bookings and merchandise sales.
My suggestion to maximise use of various established social media platforms including Facebook and Twitter providing a hugely cost effective method of interfacing directly with fans, allowing the band to share almost instantaneous news updates, post gig schedules and exchange views with other prominent acts on the Gloucestershire music scene.
It was also clear the band needed more of a visual identity so I art directed and undertook a photo-shoot of the band at an arresting Gothic venue, using its convenient and relevant chequered floor to create a soulful and moody atmosphere, following these up with some contrasting high-impact live shots of the band in concert. Adding testimonials to an updated Chequered Souls website and improved cross-links to other relevant websites such as ‘find-a-band’ sites completing the comprehensive improvements in time for a busy festival season for the band.
